Vacancy Details
NIELIT is offering a total of 78 positions for the role of Scientific Assistant. These positions are under the Standardization Testing & Quality Certification Directorate (STQC). The STQC is responsible for providing quality assurance services in the area of electronics and IT.
Eligibility Criteria
To apply for the Scientific Assistant position, candidates must meet the following criteria:
Educational Qualification: A candidate must have a B.E., B.Tech, or M.Sc. degree in one of the following disciplines:
- Electronics
- Electronics & Communication
- Electronics & Telecommunications
- Computer Science
- Computer & Networking Security
- Software Systems
- Information Technology
Age Limit: Candidates should be between 18 and 30 years old as of March 18, 2025. Age relaxations are applicable as per government norms:
- OBC Candidates: Up to 3 years
- SC/ST Candidates: Up to 5 years
- Persons with Disabilities (PwD): Additional 10 years
Application Fee
The application fee varies based on the candidate's category:
- General and OBC Candidates: Rs. 800/-
- SC/ST/PwD/Women Candidates: Exempted from the fee
The fee can be paid online through various modes such as credit/debit cards, net banking, or UPI.
Selection Process
The selection process for the Scientific Assistant position comprises a written examination only. There will be no interview.
- Written Examination:
- Format: Objective type (OMR-based)
- Total Questions: 120
- Sections:
- Technical Area: 65% of the questions
- Generic Area: 35% of the questions, covering Logical Reasoning, Quantitative Aptitude, Analytical Reasoning, and General Awareness
- Negative Marking: 0.25 marks will be deducted for each wrong answer
The merit list will be prepared based on the candidate's performance in the written examination. In case of a tie, the older candidate will be given preference.

- Additional documents like experience certificates or higher qualification certificates, if any (PDF, size less than 1.5 MB)
