Indian Army Announces Agniveer Recruitment 2025
The Indian Army has announced the Agniveer Recruitment for 2025. This is a significant opportunity for young individuals who wish to serve the nation. The Agnipath Scheme, introduced in 2022, continues to pave the way for aspiring soldiers.
Overview of the Agnipath Scheme
The Agnipath Scheme was approved by the Government of India on June 14, 2022, and implemented in September 2022. It is a tour of duty style scheme for recruiting soldiers below the rank of commissioned officers into the three services of the armed forces. All recruits are hired for a four-year period, and personnel recruited under this system are called Agniveers.
Eligibility Criteria
To apply for the Agniveer Recruitment 2025, candidates must meet the following criteria:
Age Limit: Candidates should be between 17.5 to 21 years old. However, during the initial year of implementation in 2022, the upper age limit was raised to 23.
Educational Qualification: Candidates must have completed 10th, 12th, or hold an ITI certificate in relevant disciplines.
Application Process
The application process for Agniveer Recruitment 2025 is conducted online. Candidates can apply through the official Indian Army website: joinindianarmy.nic.in. The online application window is open until April 10, 2025.
Selection Process
The selection process for Agniveers includes the following stages:
Common Entrance Exam (CEE): Candidates need to appear for an online Common Entrance Exam. This is a new amendment in the recruitment procedure, aiming to assess the cognitive aspect of candidates and reduce large crowds during recruitment rallies.
Physical Fitness Test (PFT): Candidates who qualify in the CEE will undergo a Physical Fitness Test to assess their physical capabilities.
Medical Examination: Candidates clearing the PFT will undergo a medical examination to ensure they meet the medical standards required for the Army.
Training and Service Tenure
Selected candidates, known as Agniveers, will undergo a 31-week rigorous training program. The first 10 weeks focus on basic military training, while the remaining 21 weeks are dedicated to advanced training. Agniveers will serve for a tenure of four years, which includes the training period.
Post-Service Opportunities
After completing the four-year tenure, Agniveers will have the opportunity to apply for permanent positions in the armed forces. However, not more than 25% of the total strength of the retiring batch will be selected for the permanent cadre. Personnel who retire after four years of service will not be eligible for a pension but will receive a lump sum amount of approximately ₹11.71 lakh at the end of their tenure.
